Hadith 4640
Abu Sa'id Al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates from the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), he said: "Avoid sitting on the roads." The companions said, "O Messenger of Allah! Sitting there is a necessity for us, we cannot do without it, we sit there and talk." He (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "If you must sit, then give the road its due right." They asked, "O Messenger of Allah! What is the right of the road?" He (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Lowering the gaze, not causing harm, responding to greetings, enjoining good, and forbidding evil." Agreed upon.
