كتاب الآدابThe Book of Manners
(سَلَامُ آدَمَ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ)
(The greeting of Adam, peace be upon him)
Hadith 4628
عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: خَلَقَ اللَّهُ آدَمَ على صورته طوله سِتُّونَ ذِرَاعًا فَلَمَّا خَلَقَهُ قَالَ اذْهَبْ فَسَلِّمْ عَلَى أُولَئِكَ النَّفَرِ وَهُمْ نَفَرٌ مِنَ الْمَلَائِكَةِ جُلُوسٌ فَاسْتَمِعْ مَا يُحَيُّونَكَ فَإِنَّهَا تَحِيَّتُكَ وَتَحِيَّةُ ذُرِّيَّتِكَ فَذَهَبَ فَقَالَ: السَّلَامُ عَلَيْكُمْ فَقَالُوا: السَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ وَرَحْمَةُ اللَّهِ قَالَ: «فَزَادُوهُ وَرَحْمَةُ اللَّهِ» . قَالَ: «فَكُلُّ مَنْ يَدْخُلُ الْجَنَّةَ عَلَى صُورَةِ آدَمَ وَطُولُهُ سِتُّونَ ذِرَاعًا فَلَمْ يَزَلِ الْخَلْقُ يَنْقُصُ بعدَه حَتَّى الْآن»
Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Allah created Adam in His image, his height was sixty cubits. When He created him, He said: Go and greet that group, a group of angels who were sitting, and listen carefully to the reply they give you, for that will be your greeting and the greeting of your descendants." So he went and said to them: As-salamu Alaikum! They replied: As-salamu Alaika wa Rahmatullah! They added the words 'wa Rahmatullah' in their reply." He said: "Everyone who enters Paradise will be in the form of Adam, his height will be sixty cubits. After him, the creation has been decreasing in stature continuously up to now." Agreed upon.
