Mishkat al-Masabih
كتاب البيوعThe Book of Sales and Trade
(الشَّيْءُ المُعْطَى عَلَى سَبِيلِ العُمْرِيَّةِ يَكُونُ لِمَنْ أُعْطِيَ أَوْ لِذُرِّيَّتِهِ)
(The item given as Umra belongs to the recipient or their descendants)
Hadith 3015
عَنْ جَابِرٍ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «أَمْسِكُوا أَمْوَالَكُمْ عَلَيْكُمْ لَا تُفْسِدُوهَا فَإِنَّهُ مَنْ أَعْمَرَ عُمْرَى فَهِيَ لِلَّذِي أعمر حَيا وَمَيتًا ولعقبه» . رَوَاهُ مُسلم
Jabir reported God’s Messenger as saying, “Keep your properties for yourselves and do not squander them, for if anyone gives a life- tenancy it goes to the one to whom it is given, both during his life and after his death, and to his descendants." Muslim transmitted it.
