The Book of Sales and Trade
(هَدِيَّةُ جَاغِيرٍ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لِلصَّحَابَةِ)
(The gift of a fief by the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, to the Companions)
Hadith 2999
وَعَنْ عَلْقَمَةَ بْنِ وَائِلٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ: أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَقْطَعَهُ أَرْضًا بِحَضْرَمَوْتَ قَالَ: فَأَرْسَلَ مَعِي مُعَاوِيَةَ قَالَ: «أَعْطِهَا إِيَّاه» . رَوَاهُ التِّرْمِذِيّ والدارمي
‘Alqama b. Wa’il reported his father as saying that the Prophet assigned him land in Hadramaut, sending Mu'awiya with him and telling him to give it to him. Tirmidhi and Darimi transmitted it.
