The Book of Funerals
(الْمُمَارَاةُ فِي النَّوْحِ تُصِيبُ الْمَيِّتَ بِالْعَذَابِ)
(Wailing may cause torment to the deceased)
Hadith 1740
عَنِ الْمُغِيرَةِ بْنِ شُعْبَةَ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسلم يَقُول: «من نِيحَ عَلَيْهِ فَإِنَّهُ يُعَذَّبُ بِمَا نِيحَ عَلَيْهِ يَوْم الْقِيَامَة»
Al-Mughira b. Shu'ba said he heard God’s messenger say, “If people wail for anyone he will be punished for it on the day of resurrection.” (Bukharl and Muslim.)
