The Book of Prayer
(ٱلإِمَامُ وَٱلْمُؤَذِّنُ هُمَا خِيَارُ ٱلنَّاسِ)
(The imam and the muezzin are the best of people)
Hadith 1119
عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «لِيُؤَذِّنْ لَكُمْ خِيَارُكُمْ وليؤمكم قراؤكم» . رَوَاهُ أَبُو دَاوُد
Ibn ‘Abbas reported God’s Messenger as saying, “Let the best among you call the adhan for you, and the Qur’an readers act as your imams.” Abu Dawud transmitted it.
