‘Abdallah b. ‘Amr reported God’s messenger as saying, “The hearts of all men are between two of the Compassionate’s fingers as if they were one heart which He turns about as He wills.” Then God’s messenger said, “O God, who turnest the hearts, turn our hearts to Thy obedience!” Muslim transmitted it.

Hadith Takhrij´تحقيق و تخريج: محدث العصر حافظ زبير على زئي رحمه الله` «رواه مسلم (17 / 2654)»
Fiqh al-Hadith: ➊ It is Allah alone who turns the hearts towards good or evil, and He is the Creator of the actions of His servants. ➋ The hand and fingers of Allah are among His attributes, which befit His majesty, and bear absolutely no resemblance to the creation. To deny this attribute or to liken it to the creation are both false and are the beliefs of the misguided. Rather, the correct creed is only that one should have faith in all the attributes of Allah mentioned in the Qur’an and Hadith, without likening them (tamthil), negating them (ta’til), or asking how (takyyif). «ليس كمثله شيء وهو السميع البصير» ➌ Whatever is happening in the world is occurring only by the command, will, and decree of Allah.
