It is narrated from Mahmood bin Labeed (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "What I fear most for you is minor shirk." They asked, "O Messenger of Allah! What is meant by minor shirk?" He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Showing off (riya)." And Imam Bayhaqi has narrated this addition in Shu'ab al-Iman: "On the Day when Allah will recompense His servants for their deeds, He will say to them (those who showed off): Go to those to whom you used to show your deeds in the world, and see if you find any reward or goodness with them." Its chain is Hasan. Narrated by Ahmad and al-Bayhaqi in Shu'ab al-Iman.
