(الرِّيَاءُ شِرْكٌ)(Hypocrisy is polytheism)
Hadith 5331

وَعَنْ شَدَّادِ بْنِ أَوْسٍ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسلم يَقُول: «من صَلَّى يُرَائِي فَقَدْ أَشْرَكَ وَمَنْ صَامَ يُرَائِي فَقَدْ أَشْرَكَ وَمَنْ تَصَدَّقَ يُرَائِي فَقَدْ أَشْرَكَ» رَوَاهُمَا أَحْمد
Shaddad bin Aws (may Allah be pleased with him) reports: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Whoever performs prayer to show off has committed shirk; whoever fasts to show off has committed shirk; and whoever gives charity to show off has committed shirk." Both ahadith have been narrated by Imam Ahmad. Its chain is Hasan. Narrated by Ahmad.
