وَعَن عمر بن الْخطاب أَنَّهُ خَرَجَ يَوْمًا إِلَى مَسْجِدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَوَجَدَ مُعَاذَ بْنَ جَبَلٍ قَاعِدًا عِنْدَ قَبْرِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَبْكِي فَقَالَ: مَا يُبْكِيكَ؟ قَالَ: يُبْكِينِي شَيْءٌ سَمِعْتُهُ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ: «إِنَّ يَسِيرَ الرِّيَاءِ شِرْكٌ وَمَنْ عَادَى لِلَّهِ وَلِيًّا فَقَدْ بَارَزَ اللَّهَ بِالْمُحَارَبَةِ إِنَّ اللَّهَ يُحِبُّ الْأَبْرَارَ الْأَتْقِيَاءَ الْأَخْفِيَاءَ الَّذِينَ إِذَا غَابُوا لَمْ يُتَفَقَّدُوا وَإِنْ حَضَرُوا لَمْ يُدْعَوْا وَلَمْ يُقَرَّبُوا قُلُوبُهُمْ مَصَابِيحُ الْهُدَى يَخْرُجُونَ مِنْ كُلِّ غَبْرَاءَ مُظْلِمَةٍ» . رَوَاهُ ابْنُ مَاجَهْ وَالْبَيْهَقِيُّ فِي «شُعَبِ الْإِيمَانِ»
It is narrated from Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) that one day he came towards the mosque of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and he saw Mu'adh bin Jabal (may Allah be pleased with him) crying near the grave of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). He asked him: "What is making you cry?" He replied: "What is making me cry is something I heard from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: 'Even a small amount of showing off is shirk (associating partners with Allah), and whoever shows enmity to any of my friends has declared war against Allah. Indeed, Allah loves those righteous, pious, and unknown people, such that when they are absent, they are not missed, and when they are present, they are not invited, nor are they brought close. Their hearts are lamps of guidance, and they are kept away from all kinds of turmoil.'" (They do not fall prey to any tribulation.) Its chain is weak. It was narrated by Ibn Majah and Al-Bayhaqi in Shu'ab al-Iman.
