Abu Sa’id bin Abi Fadalah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “When Allah gathers the people on the Day of Resurrection, about which there is no doubt, an announcer will announce: Whoever associated anyone in a deed which he did for Allah alone, let him seek his reward from someone other than Allah, for Allah is the most free of need of all partners from shirk (associating others with Him).” Hasan, narrated by Ahmad.
