كتاب الرقاقThe Book of Heart-Softeners
(أَوَّلُ خَيْرِ الأُمَّةِ يَقِينُ الآخِرَةِ وَأَوَّلُ فَسَادِهَا طُولُ الأَمَلِ)(The first goodness of the nation is certainty in the Hereafter, and its first corruption is long hopes)
Hadith 5281

عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ شُعَيْبٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ جَدِّهِ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: «أَوَّلُ صَلَاحِ هَذِهِ الْأُمَّةِ الْيَقِينُ وَالزُّهْدُ وَأَوَّلُ فَسَادِهَا الْبُخْلُ وَالْأَمَلُ» . رَوَاهُ الْبَيْهَقِيُّ فِي «شعب الْإِيمَان»
Amr bin Shu’aib narrates from his father, and he from his grandfather, that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “The first righteousness of this Ummah is (firm) belief in the Hereafter and indifference towards the world, while its first corruption is miserliness and (unlimited) desires.” Its chain is weak; narrated by Al-Bayhaqi in Shu’ab al-Iman.
