Hadith 5253

It is narrated from Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "No one has been frightened in the way of Allah as much as I have been frightened, and no one has been harmed in the way of Allah as much as I have been harmed. Thirty days and nights have passed over me and Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him) in such a state that there was nothing for us to eat that any living being could eat, except for a small amount that Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him) could hide under his armpit." And Imam Tirmidhi (may Allah have mercy on him) said: The meaning of this hadith is that when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) escaped from Makkah, Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him) was with him, and Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him) had only as much food as he could keep under his armpit. Its chain is authentic, narrated by al-Tirmidhi.
