كتاب الرقاقThe Book of Heart-Softeners
(إِذَا دَخَلَ النُّورُ الصَّدْرَ يَتَّسِعُ الصَّدْرُ)(When light enters the heart, the heart expands)
Hadith 5228

وَعَنِ ابْنِ مَسْعُودٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ: تَلَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: (فَمَنْ يُرِدِ اللَّهُ أَنْ يَهْدِيَهُ يَشْرَحْ صَدْرَهُ لِلْإِسْلَامِ) فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «إِنَّ النُّورَ إِذَا دَخَلَ الصَّدْرَ انْفَسَحَ» . فَقِيلَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ هَلْ لِتِلْكَ مِنْ عِلْمٍ يُعْرَفُ بِهِ؟ قَالَ: «نَعَمْ التَّجَافِي مِنْ دَارِ الْغُرُورِ وَالْإِنَابَةُ إِلَى دَارِ الْخُلُودِ وَالِاسْتِعْدَادُ لِلْمَوْتِ قبل نُزُوله»
Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) recited this verse: "Allah opens the breast of the one whom He intends to guide to Islam." Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When light enters the breast, the breast opens up." It was asked: O Messenger of Allah! Is there any sign by which it can be recognized? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Yes, distancing oneself from the house of deception (the world), turning towards the eternal home (the Hereafter), and preparing for death before death comes." Its chain is weak. It was narrated by Al-Bayhaqi in Shu'ab al-Iman.
