Hadith 5227

Mu’adh bin Jabal (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: When the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) sent him to Yemen, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) went out with him to advise him. At that time, Mu’adh (may Allah be pleased with him) was riding, while the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was walking alongside his mount. When he finished, he said: “Mu’adh, it may be that you will not meet me after this year; perhaps you will pass by my mosque and my grave.” Mu’adh (may Allah be pleased with him) began to weep out of fear of separation from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) turned his face towards Madinah and said: “The most deserving of my closeness and intercession are the God-fearing, whoever they may be and wherever they may be.” All four ahadith are narrated by Imam Ahmad. Its chain is Hasan. Narrated by Ahmad.
