It is narrated from Muawiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) that he went to visit his maternal uncle Abu Hashim bin Utbah (may Allah be pleased with him) when Abu Hashim (may Allah be pleased with him) began to weep. He asked, "Dear uncle! What is making you weep? Is it some pain that is troubling you, or is it greed for the world?" He replied, "Not at all. Rather, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) advised us, but I did not act upon it." He asked, "What was that (advice)?" He said, "I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: 'It is sufficient for you to accumulate only so much wealth that you have a servant and a mount for striving in the way of Allah.' And I think that I have accumulated (more wealth than that)." Weak, narrated by Ahmad, al-Tirmidhi, al-Nasa'i, and Ibn Majah.
