Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) explained Allah Almighty’s statement (Repel [evil] with that which is best) as follows: To be patient at the time of anger, to forgive when a mistake is made; when they do so, Allah will protect them and their enemies will be humbled, as if he is a close, intimate friend. Imam Bukhari narrated this in a suspended form. Its chain is weak. Narrated by al-Bukhari in Tafsir (Chapter 4 before Hadith 4816, suspended without chain).
