(التَّرْغِيبُ فِي الصُّلْحِ)(Encouragement for reconciliation)
Hadith 5031

وَعَنْ أُمُّ كُلْثُومٍ بِنْتُ عُقْبَةَ بْنِ أَبِي مَعِيطٍ قَالَتْ: سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ: «لَيْسَ الْكَذَّابُ الَّذِي يُصْلِحُ بَيْنَ النَّاسِ وَيَقُولُ خَيْرًا وَيَنْمِي خَيْرًا» . مُتَّفَقٌ عَلَيْهِ. وَزَادَ مُسْلِمٌ قَالَتْ: وَلَمْ أَسْمَعْهُ-تَعْنِي النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ-يُرَخِّصُ فِي شَيْءٍ مِمَّا يَقُولُ النَّاسُ كَذِبٌ إِلَّا فِي ثَلَاثٍ: الْحَرْبُ وَالْإِصْلَاحُ بَيْنَ النَّاسِ وَحَدِيثُ الرَّجُلِ امْرَأَتَهُ وَحَدِيثُ الْمَرْأَةِ زَوْجَهَا
Umm Kulthum bint Uqbah bin Abi Mu'it (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) say: "The person who reconciles between people is not a liar; he speaks good words and conveys good words (to both sides)." Imam Muslim has narrated this addition: Umm Kulthum (may Allah be pleased with her) said, "I did not hear him—that is, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him)—permit lying in any matter except for three things: in war, in reconciling between people, and in conversation between a husband and wife." Agreed upon.
