كتاب الآدابThe Book of Manners
(وَجْبُ ٱلرَّأْفَةِ بِٱلصِّغَارِ وَتَعْظِيمِ ٱلْكِبَارِ)(Compassion for the young and respect for elders is obligatory)
Hadith 4970

وَعَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: لَيْسَ مِنَّا مَنْ لَمْ يَرْحَمْ صَغِيرَنَا وَلَمْ يُوَقِّرْ كَبِيرَنَا وَيَأْمُرْ بِالْمَعْرُوفِ وَيَنْهَ عَنِ الْمُنْكَرِ رَوَاهُ التِّرْمِذِيُّ وَقَالَ: هَذَا حَدِيثٌ غَرِيبٌ
Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever does not show mercy to our young ones, does not respect our elders, does not enjoin good, and does not forbid evil, is not from among us." (Tirmidhi), and he said: This hadith is gharib. Its chain is weak. Narrated by al-Tirmidhi.
