Hadith 4935

وَعَن ابْن عمر أَنَّ رَجُلًا أَتَى النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنِّي أَصَبْتُ ذَنْبًا عَظِيمًا فَهَلْ لِي مِنْ تَوْبَةٍ؟ قَالَ: «هَلْ لَكَ مِنْ أُمٍّ؟» قَالَ: لَا. قَالَ: «وَهَلْ لَكَ مِنْ خَالَةٍ؟» . قَالَ: نَعَمْ. قَالَ: «فبرها» . رَوَاهُ التِّرْمِذِيّ
It is narrated from Ibn Umar, may Allah be pleased with him, that a man came to the service of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, and said: O Messenger of Allah! I have committed a very great sin, so is there any room for repentance for me? The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Do you have a mother?" He replied, No. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Do you have a maternal aunt?" He replied, Yes. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Treat her kindly." Its chain is authentic; narrated by al-Tirmidhi.
