Uqbah bin Amir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "These genealogies (lineage, tribe) of yours are not a cause of disgrace for anyone. You are all the children of Adam and you are all equal to each other just as one sa’ (measure) is equal to another sa’. No one has superiority over another except in religion and piety. It is enough of a disgrace for a person that he is foul-mouthed, obscene in speech, and miserly." Hasan, narrated by Ahmad and Al-Bayhaqi in Shu’ab al-Iman.
