It is narrated from Mutarrif bin Abdullah bin Shukhair (may Allah have mercy on him), who (narrates from his father): I was present with the delegation of Banu Amir in the service of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). We said: "You are our master." He replied: "The Master is Allah." Then we said: "You are superior to us in virtue and greater than us." The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Say what you are saying, or say part of your words, and let not Satan embolden you (to make up things)." Its chain is authentic. Narrated by Ahmad and Abu Dawood.
