Hadith 4754

وَعَن جَابر قَالَ أَرَادَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنْ يَنْهَى عَنْ أَنْ يُسَمَّى بِيَعْلَى وَبِبَرَكَةَ وَبِأَفْلَحَ وَبِيَسَارٍ وَبِنَافِعٍ وَبِنَحْوِ ذَلِكَ. ثُمَّ سَكَتَ بَعْدُ عَنْهَا ثُمَّ قُبِضَ وَلَمْ يَنْهَ عَنْ ذَلِك. رَوَاهُ مُسلم
Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) intended to prohibit naming with names such as Ya'la, Barakah (Blessing), Aflah, Yasar, Nafi', and similar names. Then I saw that later he remained silent about it, and then the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) passed away and did not prohibit it. Narrated by Muslim.
