It is narrated from Abu Saeed Al-Ansari, may Allah be pleased with him, that he heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, saying as he was coming out of the mosque, and on the way men mixed with women. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said to the women: "Walk on the side of the road, you have no right to walk in the middle of the road, therefore walk on the edges of the road." So (upon hearing this command) the woman would walk so close to the wall that her garment would cling to the wall. Its chain of narration is weak, narrated by Abu Dawood and Al-Bayhaqi in Shu'ab al-Iman.
