It is narrated from Abu Umamah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “Visiting a sick person is fulfilled in such a way that one of you places his hand on the patient’s forehead or on his hand and asks him: ‘How are you?’ And your complete greeting among yourselves is to exchange salutations and shake hands.” Ahmad, Tirmidhi, and Imam Tirmidhi (may Allah have mercy on him) declared it weak. Its chain is weak. Narrated by Ahmad and Tirmidhi.
