The Book of Supplications
(الاسْتِعَاذَةُ مِنْ أَرْبَعَةِ أَشْيَاءَ)
(Seeking refuge from four things)
Hadith 2464
عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ: كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ: اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الْأَرْبَعِ: مِنْ عِلْمٍ لَا يَنْفَعُ وَمِنْ قَلْبٍ لَا يَخْشَعُ وَمِنْ نَفْسٍ لَا تَشْبَعُ وَمِنْ دُعَاءٍ لَا يُسْمَعُ . رَوَاهُ أحمدُ وَأَبُو دَاوُد وابنُ مَاجَه
Abu Huraira said that God’s messenger used to say, “O God, I seek refuge in Thee from the four things:knowledge which does not profit, a heart which is not submissive, an appetite which is insatiable, and a supplication which is not heard.” Ahmad, Abu Dawud and Ibn Majah transmitted it.
