وَعَنْ مُعَاوِيَةَ قَالَ: إِنَّ النَّبِيَ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ نَهَى عَنِ الْأُغْلُوطَاتِ. رَوَاهُ أَبُو دَاوُد
Mu'awiya said that the Prophet forbade the discussion of thorny questions. Abu Dawud transmitted it.

Authentication of the Hadith:
Its chain of narration is weak.
➊ ‘Abdullah bin Sa‘d bin Furwah al-Bajali ad-Dimashqi was mentioned only by Ibn Hibban among the trustworthy narrators, and he said:
«يخطئ» “He used to make mistakes.” [7؍39]
➋ Mughaltai al-Hanafi reported that as-Saji said:
«ضعفه أهل الشام فى الحديث»
“The people of al-Sham considered him weak in hadith.” [اكمال مغلطائي 2؍275 بحواله حاشيه تهذيب الكمال 4؍147]
➌ This narrator is of unknown status (majhool al-haal), therefore this chain is weak.
