The Book of Supplications
(كَانَ رَسُولُ اللّٰهِ ﷺ إِذَا دَعَا بَدَأَ بِنَفْسِهِ)
(The Messenger of Allah ﷺ, when he supplicated, would begin with himself)
Hadith 2258
وَعَنْ أُبَيِّ بْنِ كَعْبٍ قَالَ: كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا ذَكَرَ أَحَدًا فَدَعَا لَهُ بَدَأَ بِنَفْسِهِ رَوَاهُ التِّرْمِذِيُّ وَقَالَ هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ غَرِيبٌ صَحِيح
Ubayy b. Ka‘b said that when God’s messenger mentioned anyone for whom he made supplication, he began with himself. Tirmidhi transmitted it, saying this is a hasan gharib sahih tradition.
