Hadith 108

‏‏‏‏وَعَنْ عُمَرَ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «لَا تُجَالِسُوا أَهْلَ الْقَدَرِ وَلَا تفاتحوهم» رَوَاهُ أَبُو دَاوُد
‘Umar reported God’s messenger as saying, “Do not sit with those who believe in freewill and do not address them before they address you." Abu Dawud transmitted it.

٭ حکيم بن شريک مجھول الحال و ثقه ابن حبان و حده و سکت الحاکم علٰٰي حديثه (1/ 85) و لم يصححه .»

◈ Hakim bin Shurayk al-Hudhali is majhool (unknown). See: [تقريب التهذيب 1475]
He has only been declared trustworthy (thiqah) by Ibn Hibban.
◈ Besides Sunan Abi Dawud, this narration is also found with the same chain in Sahih Ibn Hibban [الاحسان : 79], Musnad Ahmad [1؍30], Al-Mustadrak of Al-Hakim [1؍85 ح287], Al-Tarikh al-Kabir of Al-Bukhari [3؍15], and Al-Sunnah by Ibn Abi Asim [330].
