It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) came out (of his house); then he mentioned the complete hadith, in which there is also this (blessed saying): "There is no gulp more beloved and pleasing to Allah Almighty than the bitter gulp of anger which a servant swallows purely for the pleasure of Allah; and no servant restrains his anger for the pleasure of Allah except that Allah, Glorified and Exalted, fills his heart and inner self with faith and certainty."
The chain of this narration contains a narrator named Nuh bin Ja'wanah al-Khurasani, who is severely weak and matruk al-hadith (abandoned in hadith) according to the hadith scholars; therefore these specific words are not established in their chain, although the virtue of swallowing anger is established by other sahih (authentic) texts of the Qur'an and Sunnah.
