Hadith 1133
رجل عشق امراة . . .
(One day Ibn Zubair (may Allah be pleased with him) said to his companions: Do you know what is the meaning of this hadith, "Whoever attributes a lie to me, let him take his place in Hell"? A man fell in love with a woman. One evening, he came to the woman's family and said, "I am the messenger of the Prophet (peace be upon him). The Prophet (peace be upon him) has sent me to you so that I may stay in whichever of your houses I wish." He waited for the evening. One of them went to the Prophet (peace be upon him) and said, "So-and-so has come to us and says that you have ordered him to spend the night in whichever of our houses he wishes." The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, "He has lied. O so-and-so, go with this man, and if Allah gives you power over him, kill him and burn him in the fire. But I think death will suffice for him." Then it started to rain from the sky. He went outside to perform ablution, and a snake bit him. When the Prophet (peace be upon him) was informed of this, he said, "He is in Hell."
