Women attending funerals

Hadith 731

دعها يا عمر !

"(The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, was attending a funeral when Umar, may Allah be pleased with him, was startled upon seeing a woman. So the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said:) O Umar! Leave her alone."

Hadith 732

فاذا نسوة جلوس قال ما يجلسكن قلن ننتظر الجنازة . . .

"The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) once came out of his house and saw some women sitting on the way. He asked: Why are you sitting here? They replied: We are waiting for a funeral. Upon hearing this, he rebuked them and ordered them to return."

امام ابن جوزی رحمہ اللہ نے اسے اپنی ضعیف روایات پر مشتمل کتاب «”العلل المتناهية“» میں ذکر فرمایا ہے۔ [العلل المتناهية 902/2]
شیخ البانی رحمہ الله نے اسے ضعیف کہا ہے۔ [ضعيف ابن ماجة 344] ، [الضعيفة 2742]

Hadith 733

لا خير فى جماعة النساء الا فى مسجد أو فى جنازة قتيل

“There is no good in women’s congregation except in the mosque or for the funeral of a murdered person.”

امام ابن جوزی رحمہ الله اور امام ہیثمی رحمہ الله نے فرمایا ہے کہ اس میں ابن لہیعہ راوی ضعیف ہے۔ [العلل المتناهية 898/2] ، [مجمع الزوائد 2104]
شیخ شعیب ارناؤوط نے بھی اسی راوی کی وجہ سے اس کی سند کو ضعیف کہا ہے۔ [مسند أحمد محقق 24421]

ليس للنساء فى اتباع الجنائز أجر

"There is no reward for women in following the funeral procession."
