Hadith 78
وقع فى نفس موسىٰ : هل ينام الله تعالىٰ؟ فأرسل الله إليه ملكا ، فأرقده ثلاثا ، ثم أعطاه قارورتين ، فى كل يد قارورة . . . ثم نام نومة ، فاصطفقت يداه وانكسرت القارورتان ، قال : ضرب الله له مثلا ، أن الله لو كان ينام لم تستمسك السماوات والأرض
A thought arose in the heart of Musa (peace be upon him): Does Allah Almighty also sleep? So Allah Almighty sent an angel to him, who made him sleep continuously for three days. Then he handed him two glass vessels, one in each hand... Then he (Musa) fell asleep, his hands moved, and both glass vessels (fell and) broke. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Allah Almighty gave him this example that if Allah Almighty were to sleep, the heavens and the earth would not remain (but would fall).
