بَابُ : ذَيْلِ الْمَرْأَةِ كَمْ يَكُونُ
Chapter: How long should the end woman’s garment be?
Hadith 3580
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ , حَدَّثَنَا الْمُعْتَمِرُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ , عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ , عَنْ نَافِعٍ , عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ يَسَارٍ , عَنْ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ , قَالَتْ : سُئِلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَمْ تَجُرُّ الْمَرْأَةُ مِنْ ذَيْلِهَا ؟ قَالَ : " شِبْرًا " , قُلْتُ : إِذًا يَنْكَشِفُ عَنْهَا , قَالَ : " ذِرَاعٌ لَا تَزِيدُ عَلَيْهِ " .
´It was narrated that Umm Salamah said:` “The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) was asked about how long a woman’s hem should hang down. He said: ‘A hand span.’ I said: ‘But then (her legs and feet) will be uncovered.’ He said: ‘Then a forearm’s length, but no more than that.’”
Hadith 3581
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ , حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ , عَنْ سُفْيَانَ , عَنْ زَيْدٍ الْعَمِّيِّ , عَنْ أَبِي الصِّدِّيقِ النَّاجِيِّ , عَنْ ابْنِ عُمَرَ " أَنَّ أَزْوَاجَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , رُخِّصَ لَهُنَّ فِي الذَّيْلِ ذِرَاعًا , فَكُنَّ يَأْتِيَنَّا فَنَذْرَعُ لَهُنَّ بِالْقَصَبِ ذِرَاعًا " .
´It was narrated from Ibn ‘Umar:` “The wives of the Prophet (ﷺ) were allowed to let their hems hang down, so they used to come to us and we would measure one forearms length for them with a reed.”
Hadith 3582
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ , حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ , حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ , عَنْ أَبِي الْمُهَزِّمِ , عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ : أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , قَالَ لِفَاطِمَةَ , أَوْ لِأُمِّ سَلَمَةَ : " ذَيْلُكِ ذِرَاعٌ " .
´It was narrated from Abu Hurairah that the Prophet (ﷺ) said to Fatimah, or to Umm Salamah:` “Let your hem down one forearm’s length.”
Hadith 3583
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ , حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ , حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَارِثِ , حَدَّثَنَا حَبِيبٌ الْمُعَلِّمُ , عَنْ أَبِي الْمُهَزِّمِ , عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ , عَنْ عَائِشَةَ , أَنَّ ّالنَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , قَالَ فِي ذُيُولِ النِّسَاءِ : " شِبْرًا " , فَقَالَتْ : عَائِشَةُ : إِذًا تَخْرُجَ سُوقُهُنَّ , قَالَ : " فَذِرَاعٌ " .
´It was narrated from ‘Aishah that the Prophet (ﷺ) said, concerning how long a woman’s hem should hang down:` “A hand span.” ‘Aishah said: “This may show her calves.” He said: “Then a forearm’s length.”
