´It was narrated that Ibn 'Abbas said:` "The husband of Barirah was a slave called Mughith. It is as if I can see him now, walking behind her and weeping, with tears running down his cheeks. The Prophet (ﷺ) said to 'Abbas: 'O Abbas, are you not amazed by the love of Mughith for Barirah, and the hatred of Barirah for Mughith?' And the Prophet said to her: Why don’t you take him back, for he is the father of your child?' She said: 'O Messenger of Allah, are you commanding me (to do so)?' He said: 'No, rather I am interceding.' She said: 'I have no need of him.' "

Umm al-Mu’minin Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) says that three Sunnahs became evident in the case of Barirah: First, when she was freed, she was given the choice, and her husband was a slave. Second, people used to give charity to Barirah (may Allah be pleased with her), and she would present it as a gift to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), so he (peace be upon him) would say: “It is charity for her, and a gift for us.” Third, regarding her, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “The right of wala’ (inheritance of a freed slave) belongs to the one who sets him free.” __QUR_N__, __XREF_N__, __REF_N__
