. بَابُ : مَا جَاءَ فِي قِيَامِ اللَّيْلِ
Chapter: What was narrated concerning voluntary Prayers during the night
Hadith 1329
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ ، عَنْ الْأَعْمَشِ ، عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " يَعْقِدُ الشَّيْطَانُ عَلَى قَافِيَةِ رَأْسِ أَحَدِكُمْ بِاللَّيْلِ بِحَبْلٍ فِيهِ ثَلَاثُ عُقَدٍ ، فَإِنِ اسْتَيْقَظَ فَذَكَرَ اللَّهَ انْحَلَّتْ عُقْدَةٌ ، فَإِذَا قَامَ فَتَوَضَّأَ انْحَلَّتْ عُقْدَةٌ ، فَإِذَا قَامَ إِلَى الصَّلَاةِ انْحَلَّتْ عُقَدُهُ كُلُّهَا ، فَيُصْبِحُ نَشِيطًا طَيِّبَ النَّفْسِ قَدْ أَصَابَ خَيْرًا ، وَإِنْ لَمْ يَفْعَلْ أَصْبَحَ كَسِلًا خَبِيثَ النَّفْسِ لَمْ يُصِبْ خَيْرًا " .
´It was narrated that Abu Hurairah said:` “The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: ‘At night Satan ties a rope in which there are three knots to the nape of the neck of anyone of you. If he wakes up and remembers Allah, one knot is untied. If he performs ablution, another knot is untied, and if he gets up to pray, all the knots are untied, so he wakes up energetic and cheerful, he has already earned something good. But if he does not do that, he wakes up bad-tempered, having earned nothing good.”
Hadith 1330
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الصَّبَّاحِ ، أَنْبَأَنَا جَرِيرٌ ، عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي وَائِلٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، قَالَ : ذُكِرَ لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ رَجُلٌ نَامَ لَيْلَةً حَتَّى أَصْبَحَ ، قَالَ : " ذَلِكَ الشَّيْطَانُ بَالَ فِي أُذُنَيْهِ " .
´It was narrated that ‘Abdullah said:` “Mention was made to the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) of a man who slept until morning came. He said: ‘That is because Satan urinated in his ears.’”
Hadith 1331
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الصَّبَّاحِ ، أَنْبَأَنَا الْوَلِيدُ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ ، عَنْ الْأَوْزَاعِيِّ ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " لَا تَكُنْ مِثْلَ فُلَانٍ كَانَ يَقُومُ اللَّيْلَ ، فَتَرَكَ قِيَامَ اللَّيْلِ " .
´It was narrated that ‘Abdullah bin ‘Amr said:` “The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: ‘Do not be like so-and-so, who used to pray voluntary night prayers then stopped praying voluntary night prayers.”
Hadith 1332
حَدَّثَنَا زُهَيْرُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ ، وَالْحَسَنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الصَّبَّاحِ ، وَالْعَبَّاسُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو الْحَدَثَانِيُّ ، قَالُوا : حَدَّثَنَا سُنَيْدُ بْنُ دَاوُدَ ، حَدَّثَنَا يُوسُفُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْمُنْكَدِرِ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : قَالَتْ أُمُّ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ دَاوُدَ لِسُلَيْمَانَ : يَا بُنَيَّ ، " لَا تُكْثِرِ النَّوْمَ بِاللَّيْلِ ، فَإِنَّ كَثْرَةَ النَّوْمِ بِاللَّيْلِ تَتْرُكُ الرَّجُلَ فَقِيرًا يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ " .
´It was narrated that Jabir bin ‘Abdullah said:` “The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: ‘The mother of Sulaiman bin Dawud said to Sulaiman: “O my son, do not sleep too much at night, for sleeping too much at night will leave a man poor on the Day of Resurrection.”
Hadith 1333
حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيل بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الطَّلْحِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا ثَابِتُ بْنُ مُوسَى أَبُو يَزِيدَ ، عَنْ شَرِيكٍ ، عَنْ الْأَعْمَشِ ، عَنْ أَبِي سُفْيَانَ ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ ، قَالَ : قَال رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " مَنْ كَثُرَتْ صَلَاتُهُ بِاللَّيْلِ حَسُنَ وَجْهُهُ بِالنَّهَارِ " .
´It was narrated that Jabir said:` “The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: ‘Whoever prays a great deal at night, his face will be handsome during the day.’”
Hadith 1334
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، وَابْنُ أَبِي عَدِيٍّ ، وعبد الوهاب ، ومحمد بن جعفر ، عَنْ عَوْفِ بْنِ أَبِي جَمِيلَةَ ، عَنْ زُرَارَةَ بْنِ أَوْفَى ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ سَلَامٍ ، قَالَ : لَمَّا قَدِمَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الْمَدِينَةَ ، انْجَفَلَ النَّاسُ إِلَيْهِ ، وَقِيلَ : قَدِمَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَجِئْتُ فِي النَّاسِ لِأَنْظُرَ إِلَيْهِ ، فَلَمَّا اسْتَبَنْتُ وَجْهَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، عَرَفْتُ أَنَّ وَجْهَهُ لَيْسَ بِوَجْهِ كَذَّابٍ ، فَكَانَ أَوَّلَ شَيْءٍ تَكَلَّمَ بِهِ أَنْ قَالَ : " يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ ، أَفْشُوا السَّلَامَ ، وَأَطْعِمُوا الطَّعَامَ ، وَصَلُّوا بِاللَّيْلِ وَالنَّاسُ نِيَامٌ تَدْخُلُوا الْجَنَّةَ بِسَلَامٍ " .
´It was narrated that ‘Abdullah bin Salam said:` “When the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) came to Al-Madinah, the people rushed towards him and it was said: ‘The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) has come!’ I came along with the people to see him, and when I looked at the face of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), I realized that his face was not the face of a liar. The first thing he said was: “O people, spread (the greeting of) Salam, offer food to people and pray at night when people are sleeping, you will enter Paradise in peace.”
