´It was narrated that Abu Musa said:` “The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: ‘I have gained weight, so when I bow, then bow, and when I stand up, then stand up, and when I prostrate, then prostrate. I should never find anyone preceding me in bowing or prostration.’”

Benefits and Issues:
➊ In this hadith, there is a stern warning that one should neither bow (ruku‘) nor prostrate (sujud) before the imam.
➋ The blessed body of the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) had become somewhat heavier due to the demands of age. It is possible that a young, agile person might think that the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) performs the prayer at a slower pace due to his physical condition, and that since we are able to move quickly, there is no harm in us doing so. The Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) made it clear that followers (muqtadis) must, in any case, remain behind the imam.
