Hadith 780

حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْحُلَبِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ الْحَارِثِ الشِّيرَازِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا زُهَيْرُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ التَّمِيمِيُّ ، عَنْ أَبِي حَازِمٍ ، عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ السَّاعِدِيِّ ، قَالَ ، قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " لِيَبْشَرِ الْمَشَّاءُونَ فِي الظُّلَمِ إِلَى الْمَسَاجِدِ بِنُورٍ تَامٍّ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ " .
´It was narrated that Sahl bin Sa'd As-Sa'idi said:` "The Messenger of Allah said: 'Give glad tidings, to those who walk to the mosques in the dark, of perfect light on the Day of Resurrection.'"

Benefit:
One of the stages of the Day of Resurrection is when people will be in complete darkness. At that time, the journey of the believers will be determined by the light of their faith (iman) and righteous deeds (amal salih). The statement of Allah, the Exalted, is:
﴿ نُورُهُمْ يَسْعَىٰ بَيْنَ أَيْدِيهِمْ وَبِأَيْمَانِهِمْ يَقُولُونَ رَبَّنَا أَتْمِمْ لَنَا نُورَنَا وَاغْفِرْ لَنَا ۖ إِنَّكَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ﴾ ( al-Tahrim: 8)
“Their light will run before them and on their right hands. They will say: ‘Our Lord! Perfect our light for us and forgive us. Surely, You are Powerful over all things.’”
Whereas the disbelievers will be deprived of this light. The hypocrites (munafiqun) will be given light at first, but after covering some distance, it will be extinguished. Among the righteous deeds that become a cause for the completion of this light is this act: that one does not care about the darkness of the path when going for the congregational prayer (salah bi’l-jama‘ah).
