حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا حُسَيْنُ بْنُ عِيسَى أَخُو سُلَيْمٍ الْقَارِيُّ ، عَنْ الْحَكَمِ بْنِ أَبَانَ ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ ، عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، قَالَ ، قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " لِيُؤَذِّنْ لَكُمْ خِيَارُكُمْ ، وَلْيَؤُمَّكُمْ قُرَّاؤُكُمْ " .
´It was narrated that Ibn 'Abbas said:` "The Messenger of Allah said: 'Let the best of you give the call to prayer (Adhan), and let those who are most versed in the Qur'an lead you in prayer.'"

590. Commentary:
The imam being a hafiz (one who has memorized the Qur'an), a scholar, and a dignified person is extremely effective in the matter of enjoining good and forbidding evil (amr bil ma'ruf wa nahi 'anil munkar); people readily accept their words.
