حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو كُرَيْبٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ هِشَامٍ ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ ، عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ ، عَنْ خِشْفِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ ، قَالَ : " شَكَوْنَا إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حَرَّ الرَّمْضَاءِ فَلَمْ يُشْكِنَا " .
´It was narrated that 'Abdullah bin Mas'ud said:` "We complained to the Messenger of Allah about the heat of the sunbaked ground, but he did not respond to our complaint."
Brief Explanation
1؎ : This means that after the sun has passed its zenith (zawal), one should wait for a short while, not that one should perform the prayer after the shadow reaches twice its length, for after the shadow reaches twice its length, the time for Zuhr does not remain. And by "coolness" (tandki) is meant that the intensity of the midday heat lessens somewhat; complete coolness does not occur even until evening.
