Commentary:
(1)
From this, the virtue and importance of the Fajr prayer is evident.
The ‘Asr prayer also shares in this virtue.
(2)
The explanation of the angels’ attendance is found in the following hadith narrated from Abu Hurairah radi Allahu anhu, that the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said:
Among you, some angels come by turn at night and some by day.
And both groups
gather together at the Fajr and ‘Asr prayers. Then those angels who stayed with you during the night (after the Fajr prayer)
ascend (to the heavens).
Their Lord asks them, although He knows best (He says):
“In what condition did you leave My servants?” They say: “We left them while they were praying.” (Sahih Muslim, Kitab al-Masajid wa Mawadi‘ al-Salah, Chapter: The Virtue of the Fajr and ‘Asr Prayers and Maintaining Them, Hadith: 632)
The testimony of the angels reveals the honor and greatness of the believers.
