Hadith 630

حَدَّثَنَا حَرْمَلَةُ بْنُ يَحْيَى ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ ، أَخْبَرَنِي عَمْرُو بْنُ الْحَارِثِ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ الْقَاسِمِ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ زَوْجِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، أَنَّهَا قَالَتْ : " إِنْ كَانَتْ إِحْدَانَا لَتَحِيضُ ، ثُمَّ تَقْتَنِصُ الدَّمَ مِنْ ثَوْبِهَا عِنْدَ طُهْرِهَا فَتَغْسِلُهُ ، وَتَنْضَحُ عَلَى سَائِرِهِ ، ثُمَّ تُصَلِّي فِيهِ " .
´It was narrated that 'Aisha the wife of the Prophet said:` "One of us used to menstruate, then rub the blood off her garment when she became pure again, and wash it, and sprinkle water over the rest of the garment, then perform prayer in it."

Explanation & Benefits
Maulana Ataullah Sajid
The garment in which menstruation (hayd) occurs, if it does not have blood on it, is pure. If blood does get on it, it becomes pure by washing.
And wearing a pure garment for prayer is valid; one should not entertain doubts. However, if one designates a separate garment specifically for the days of menstruation, it is permissible. (Sahih al-Bukhari, Book of Menstruation, Chapter: Whoever designated garments for menstruation other than the garments of purity, Hadith: 323)
