Brief Explanation
1؎ : In this hadith, it is clearly stated that three handfuls of water are sufficient for the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam to pour over his head. In reality, with three handfuls, the entire head becomes thoroughly wet, and that is sufficient for ritual bath (ghusl).
Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Muhammad Ibrahim bin Basheer
Benefit:
In this hadith, an issue regarding the ritual bath (ghusl) after major impurity (janabah) is mentioned: that water should be poured over the head three times. Its detail is that one handful should be poured on the right side of the head, the second on the left side of the head, and the third in the middle of the head. This detail is found in Sahih Muslim and Sahih Ibn Khuzaymah.
