´It was narrated that 'Ammar bin Yasir said:` "Aishah dropped a necklace and stayed behind to look for it. Abu Bakr went to 'Aishah and got angry with her for keeping the people waiting. Then Allah revealed the concession allowing dry ablution, so we wiped our arms up to the shoulders. Abu Bakr went to 'Aishah and said: 'I did not know that you are blessed.'"
1؎ : From this hadith, the virtue of Umm al-Mu’minin Aisha radi Allahu anha is established. Likewise, from this hadith and the subsequent ahadith, the permissibility of wiping (masah) up to the shoulders is proven. However, this ruling is abrogated; now the command is only to wipe (masah) up to the face and forearms, as will be established from the ahadith that follow.

Commentary: (1) The husband should comfort his wife to a reasonable extent, even if it involves some hardship.
(2) Parents may use verbal admonition and physical discipline in response to their children's mistakes.
(3) This demonstrates the honor of Umm al-Mu’minin, Aisha radi Allahu anha, that due to her momentary difficulty, all Muslims received the blessing of the concession of tayammum (dry ablution). On this occasion, Usayd ibn Hudayr radi Allahu anhu expressed this very virtue of Aisha. See: (Hadith: 568)
(5) The ruling of wiping the hands up to the shoulders in tayammum has been abrogated. Wiping only the face and palms is sufficient, as is explicitly stated in other narrations.
