Hadith Takhrij« تفرد بہ ابن ماجہ ، ( تحفة الأشراف : 13095 ، ومصباح الزجاجة : 182 ) ( حسن ) » ( اس سند میں عمرو بن الحصین اور محمد بن عبد اللہ بن علاثہ ضعیف ہیں ، لیکن حدیث شواہد کی وجہ سے حسن ہے ، کما تقدم )
1؎ : From this it is understood that the wiping (masah) of the ears should be done with the same water used for wiping the head, because the ears are also a part of the head. Some people have said that it is prescribed to take fresh water for the ears, but Allamah Ibn al-Qayyim has established in "Zad al-Ma'ad" that it is not proven from the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam to take fresh water for the ears. However, it is established from the practice of Ibn Umar radi Allahu anhuma. Allamah Abdur Rahman Mubarakpuri says in "Tuhfat al-Ahwadhi": To my knowledge, there is no authentic marfu‘ narration in which it is stated that the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam took fresh water for the ears. Yes, it is established from Ibn Umar radi Allahu anhuma that he did so. Imam Malik has narrated in the "Muwatta" from Nafi‘ that Ibn Umar radi Allahu anhuma would take fresh water for his ears with his two fingers.
´Abu Hurairah narrated:` "The Prophet performed Wudu two time (for each limb)."

1: Both Hammam ibn Yahya and Amir al-Ahwal used to become confused, so it is possible that in this narration, one of them became confused and narrated "three" instead of "two." However, from Abu Hurairah (radi Allahu anhu), there is a similar narration in Ibn Majah (no. 415) through another (weak) chain.
