´It was narrated from Abu ‘Ubadah bin ‘Abdullah, that his father said:` “The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: ‘The one who repents from sin is like one who did not sin.’”

Our esteemed researcher has declared the mentioned narration weak in terms of its chain of transmission.
Furthermore, he has written that Hafiz Ibn Hajar rahimahullah has considered it hasan (good) on the basis of supporting narrations.
In addition, Shaykh al-Albani rahimahullah has also graded it as hasan.
From the detailed statements of the scholars, it appears that the preferred opinion is that the mentioned narration becomes acceptable for practice due to other supporting evidences.

Due to sin, a servant becomes distant from Allah.
By repenting, sins are forgiven,
and the servant regains the same status as before.

It is not permissible to reproach a person for past sins if he has repented and reformed himself.
