´It was narrated from Abu Sa’eed that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:` “Allah rejoices more over the repentance of His slave, than a man who loses his mount in a barren land, and he searches for it until he gets tired and covers his face with his garment, and while he is like that, he heard the footsteps of his mount where he lost it, so he lifts the garment from his face and there is his mount.”

Benefits and Issues:
➊ The mentioned narration has been declared weak in its chain by our esteemed researcher. However, a hadith of the same meaning is narrated in Sahih al-Bukhari from Anas radi Allahu anhu, that the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said: Allah is more pleased with the repentance of His servant than that man among you who suddenly finds his camel, after having lost it in a barren (waterless and grassless) plain. (Sahih al-Bukhari, Kitab al-Da‘awat, Chapter: Repentance, Hadith: 6308) As our esteemed researcher has also indicated towards this. See: Verification and referencing of this hadith.
➋ This contains encouragement for repentance.
➌ In order to explain an issue, an example may be given.
