´It was narrated from Abu Hurairah that the Prophet (ﷺ) said:` “If you were to commit sin until your sins reach the heaven, then you were to repent, your repentance would be accepted.”
1؎ : The meaning of this hadith is that Allah Ta'ala's mercy is so vast that, no matter how numerous a servant's sins may be, Allah Ta'ala will certainly accept the repentance (tawbah) made for their forgiveness, provided that this repentance is done with sincerity of heart. From this hadith, it should by no means be understood that one should commit sins in abundance and then repent, because the hadith emphasizes the importance of repentance, not the abundance of sinning.

Benefits and Issues: ➊ It is necessary that a person repents as soon as possible after committing a sin. However, if due to the deception of the self (nafs) and Satan (shaytan), or due to heedlessness of the heart, immediate repentance is not possible, then whenever one becomes aware, one should repent. One should not think that so many sins have been committed that they will not be forgiven. However, repentance is that which is from the heart, not merely from the tongue.
