Hadith Takhrij«تفرد بہ ابن ماجہ ، ( تحفة الأشراف : 13942 ، ومصباح الزجاجة : 1515 ) ، وقد أخرجہ : مسند احمد ( 2/350 ) ( صحیح ) » ( سند میں ابن لہیعہ ضعیف ہیں ، اور ولید بن مسلم تدلیس التسویہ کرتے ہیں ، لیکن دوسرے طرق سے یہ صحیح ہے )
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Do not observe continuous fasting (wisal)!" The people said: O Messenger of Allah! You also observe continuous fasting. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I am not like you; my Lord gives me food and drink."
Shaykh Muhammad Ibrahim bin Basheer
Benefit: Continuous fasting is prohibited; the explanation of wisal (continuous fasting without breaking the fast at sunset) is provided in parentheses along with the hadith. Islam teaches moderation and keeps one away from monasticism. The meaning of "feeding and giving drink" is the mercy of Allah, the Exalted.
