´It was narrated from Abu Hurairah that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:` “If the son of Adam had two valleys of wealth, he would love to have a third along with them. Nothing could satisfy him except dust. And Allah accepts the repentance of the one who repents.”

Benefits and Issues:
➊ The love of wealth is naturally present in human beings, in which are hidden many benefits for both this world and the Hereafter. However, exceeding the proper limits in this regard becomes a cause of misguidance.
➋ If the greed for wealth goes beyond the permissible limit, it leads to the violation of others’ rights, miserliness, negligence in obligatory duties, and other such evils. Therefore, in order to avoid these misdeeds, one should not allow the love of wealth to exceed the lawful bounds.
➌ The remedy for the love of wealth is that, in addition to obligatory zakat and required expenditures, one should strive to spend more wealth in the path of righteousness.
➍ It is necessary to repent from the unlawful love of wealth.
➎ The meaning of the heart being filled with dust is that a person’s heart is never satisfied throughout his life. When he enters the dust (i.e., is buried in the grave), then his greed will end and his heart will be satisfied, because at that point the process of reward and punishment will begin, after which turning one’s attention to the world will no longer be possible.
